All around my studio I have bowls of torn abstract lines and forms, cut up vintage fabrics, papers with my marks, odds and ends of vintage trinkets and ephemera and then another full of stitched vintage French linen scraps. Often as I am creating, I will pull these bowls around me to see if any of these treasures will find their way into my current work.
One day as I was sorting through these bowls, I started to create just with them. I wasn’t adding them to a larger work but using those scraps of color, stitches, papers and more to create a new collage piece with a foundation of fabrics. I then layered with vintage ephemera, more stitching and then of course a little plaster.
Each time someone comes into my studio it is one of the first things that people notice and gravitate towards and I am obsessed with them too.
Join me for the next Meet Me In The Studio series. In this two-hour live Zoom art workshop I will be sharing how to create abstract collage fabric art that incorporates stitching, layers, vintage ephemera and just a touch of plaster.
Think of this as a fun way to create right along with me (if you want), ask questions as we go, and even connect with other creatives in our community.
This session will also be recorded so you can go back and watch it again and again. I am so excited to connect and create with you in this way!
Registration is open for Cut + Paste with Jeanne Oliver. Registration is $20. This live Zoom art workshop will be live on May 6th @ 10 am MT and will have 2+ hours of content. This Zoom session will be recorded and you do not have to be present to later watch your course. After final edits all videos are downloadable, lifetime access* and closed captioned.
