Creative Resistance with Jeanne Oliver

Course Description
While in Milan last year I was in the most beautiful vintage bookstore. My heart was set on little vintage poetry books in Italian. As I was slowly scanning the spines for the perfect treasure to take home my eyes instantly stopped on a vintage poetry book with a cardboard cover and black stamped words and numbers. I had never seen anything like it. Of course I brought it home with me and I wanted to create our own version together.

Creative Resistance in many ways is the perfect way to prepare our hearts and minds for the new year and to be thoughtful where we choose to turn our gaze and what we give our attention.
Using found cardboard, your favorite papers, waxed thread and needle and copies of your own art, we will stitch two different books together. I will also show how I create collage papers for my work and also book pages. You can use the inspiration of the custom cover I created or you can create your own.
This is a live Zoom art workshop that will be held on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 from 10am – 12 noon. If you are not able to make all or parts of the live session please note that the session will be recorded high res, edited within 24 hours and be up within your classroom to watch at your convenience. All edited sessions are downloadable, high res, and include closed captioning.
