Meet Reyes Boluda
I am a Spanish visual artist working with both analog and digital processes, collage, and mixed media. My practice centers on portraiture as a space of identity, memory, and presence.
I work intuitively, allowing materials, time, and chance to guide the process. Archival photographs, found documents, drawing, and painterly gesture coexist in my work, creating visual constructions that balance intimacy and distance, fragility and resilience.
My portraits are not meant to describe a person, but to construct a visual presence. They explore how personal and collective histories surface through gesture, texture, and form.
Cyanotype holds a special place in my practice. I am drawn to it as an ancient and almost magical way of writing with light, where chemistry, time, and nature collaborate in unpredictable ways. The moment of revelation, when the image emerges in water, continues to feel like a quiet act of wonder and transformation.
I live and work between Spain and the UK, developing my work through independent practice, collaborative projects, and an ongoing exploration of material-based processes.
