Hello everyone!
I am excited because today I am sharing with you my first video.
Let me clarify….I did a really awesome one and the sound was bad.
I did a second one and it was OK but the sound was also jacked up.
I made a third as the the sun was going down, I was sick of the sound of my own voice and I was already tired of what I was saying and that is the one you are going to see!
Aren’t you excited????
Now that we have figured out some of the kinks I hope all following videos will not be this big of a pain and they will be better quality.
The truth is that even though it took longer,,yadda, yadda, yadda…I am so thrilled that we figured it out and videos can be a regular post on my blog.
This first video is just a look at some of the basic supplies that I love to create with.
This was a VERY limited list because of time etc. but I really just wanted to show supplies to those of you that are beginners because it can be overwhelming walking into an art store.
I hear from so many of you that you want to start but you don’t know what your first step should be.
I hope this video helps.
So, without further ado….enjoy the third take video:-)
this is fantastic jeanne!!
i am a visual learner & found this very informative. it has been a couple years since i painted. i really need to make the time to get back into it. mixed media has always intrigued me.
wish i had your talent!!
hope this will be a series
xo
What a gift! I recently happened upon your site. Thank you for sharing your talent and generous spirit!!
I feel like a dork. I can’t find the video. I am anxious to see it though:-)
Just click on the title “getting started” at the end of the post.
this is just what i needed. i have an art/design background…but i’ve put it on the back burner for too many years to count. this inspires me. who gets teary eyed over art supplies?….just me? lol. thank you so much for sharing xoxo
Not just you Leanne. . . =)
This is so great Jeanne! You make me want to try something new…thank you for always inspiring.
Very good job. Interesting, informative and I look forward to the next video. You appeared very relaxed and comfortable… not an easy feat. Way to go!
GREAT JOB Jeanne! Love this… and I learned so much more! Can’t wait for the Lowe’s/Home Depot videos… two of my favorite stores!! LOL
Great job on the video – thanks for all the valuable info. 🙂
Thank you so much Jeanne! I have been wanting to create a mixed media art project, but have been a little intimidated by the thought of getting started and what to buy. This was just what I needed. I so enjoyed it and look forward to more!
Awesome!! 🙂 Great job Jeanne; this will be such a big help to people who want to start creating!! Now I want to go and start a piece today and I can’t!!! Have to hold on to the urge. 🙂

Great video Jeanne! So wonderful to hear your voice. This video was very informative and it is always great to hear what other artists are using. You were very right about the Pencil Crayons … great investment in artist quality …. I love my Prismacolors but you must try the A.W. Faber Castell Polychromos. They are a beautiful and soft and blend wonderfully. I think you will love them for your work.
Thanks for sharing I know I will be on the look out for some of these products next time I am at the art supply store.
Can’t wait for the next video!
All my best!
Stacey
Loved the video! You are the cutest thing, ever! 🙂 I wish I had seen this back when I started out in mixed-media. I have so many favorites that it would be hard to narrow them down, but you did a great job of focusing on your “most used”. Wondering if you have ever submitted your work to any of the Stampington publications? Your canvases are really neat. 🙂
Take Care,
Amy
Thank you for this Jeanne! It is so wonderful to see an artist specifically say what they use. It is SO SO helpful! Sometimes when I have questions I don’t know where to go – so thank you. I am looking forward to more videos. Have a beautiful rest of the week.
Thanks so much for the video! It’s nice to know what basic supplies to have.
I think it’s a great video! If I ever get “brave” enough to try mixed-media pieces, you are the “go-to” gal for me…love your artwork:)
You are so sweet to share all of this….I have discovered so much from your blog – like The She Art workshop that is coming up with Christy Tomlinson….I want to know how to get all of those cool layers and textures…so thanks for the supply tips and sharing so much! 🙂
And by the way….you are so dang adorable!!! 🙂
What a great video. I was actually ‘moved’ by the details. There is obviously a lot of thought/time/love and soul in each or your pieces. Very interesting, thank you.
Hi Jeanne,
Thank you for sharing your secrets with us. We loved the movie. We used it for school today! The girls loved it.
I really think it is great when artist share their gifts, instead of trying to keep it all to themselves.
Looking forward to the next movie!
Jeanne, Fantastic video. Lots of information and tips to help with the details of our work. Many thanks to you. Not many artists would share their “secrets”. Look forward to receiving my print in the mail. My best to you!
Jeanne, simply charming. I loved watching you and even tho I think of myself as a old time artist and crafter I got a lot of great ideas! Thank-you so much. Looking forward to seeing you at Tiffanys. L
If I could hug you right now I would!!! thank you so much for doing this! I do some art therapy and I would love to do mixed media as the main way to express that..but havent known what to use to seal the art! very informative! hope to see more on this subject! thanks!!
i enjoyed it, jeanne. it is nice hearing and thinking about what’s out there. made a small list of some products to consider. i love those fine point sharpies, too!=)
wow Jeanne that was awsome, very imformative looking forward to many more you will create, Martha stewart watch out!! 🙂
Soooooo great to see you. How did you get so darn cute? Good job on the video. This is going to be very helpful for those just getting started. I, too, am in love with modeling paste. that stuff rocks. I have also been really into crackle paint from Tim Holtz.
I’m also loving the new website. I can see that ALT was very inspiring for you. I love coming to your blog. Keep up the good work.
smooooches
YOU ROCK Jeanne Oliver! Loved this video! Makes me miss you! Love hearing about your favorites!!
Loved this Jeanne!! I have been longing to paint for a long time but just haven’t found the time to do it. I got my sister an art case for Christmas from Dick Blick and really want to get myself some things too. I will be watching again to make my list.
Great tips Jeanne! Thanks for doing that!
thanks for sharing all of your supplies, I have wanted to try mixed media and seeing the tools was a super helpful start. I can’t wait for your video at the hardware store!
Thanks so much for sharing. I am just starting out and this was very helpful.Well done can’t wait for the next one!
What a wonderful video! I’m glad I watched it because I have an idea for a mixed media piece that I haven’t started yet. I was thinking that I was going to use modpodge all over it, but now I know I’ll need to get some matte medium. It’s been a while since I painted anything and this will be branching out for me. It scares me just a little. 🙂 Thanks again.
