OK…before you see the weirdest photo of me I would like to explain.
I don't know if it will do any good but I want to try!
Last year when I went to Brave Girl Camp they made the most awesome caramel corn.
SERIOUSLY AMAZING!!!
I made it a few times around Christmas and everyone LOVED it.
In fact, no one could stop eating it once it was put out.
It may be in fact…sugar crack!
So, when Kathy was going to make it again for this last camp I was the first to run up and make a fool of myself.
Lucky for me my friend Lara was right there to capture the caramel corn love.
So, if you would also like to eat an obscene amounts of sugar and calories I wanted to give you the recipe.
The World's Best Caramel Corn
1 C sugar
1 C dark brown sugar (packed)
1 C butter
1 C light corn syrup
1 can sweetened condensed milk
3 – 4 bags buttered, salted microwave popcorn (we use 3 bags because we like to go a little light on the popcorn and heavy on the caramel)
Put some sheets of foil on your counter to cover a space about 30" x 30" (I like to make sure there's plenty of room). Spray the foil with cooking spray.
Pop the popcorn and place in a very large bowl. Transfer by handfuls to ANOTHER very large bowl, letting the grannies drop to the bottom. (This step is critical – you don't want any grannies in your caramel corn!)
Now place the other ingredients in a large, heavy pan with high sides. Cook over med – med high heat, stirring occasionally, until the caramel almost reaches the Firm Ball stage (about 240-245 degrees on a candy thermometer). Pour over the popcorn and combine with a LONG wooden spoon so you don't burn your hands.
Pour the caramelicous goodness out onto the foil, and let it cool as long as you can stand it. Then share it with someone you love!

Do not…I repeat..DO NOT contact me after your pants don't fit.
You know how I love the caramel corn! But, you forgot one key step – you can’t use your hands to eat it! 🙂 xoxo
so funny! and so yummy! i am so glad i can say i have had the pleasure of enjoying that stuff! every so often this recipe will have to be made!!=)
I too can attest that this is one amazing recipe. Once you start eating it, you don’t want to stop!! Thanks,Jeanne!
Too funny…love the pic! 🙂 Yummy…the recipe sounds oh-so-tasty!! Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing, Jeanne!
Sugar crack…that is funny.
Ahhhh silly! This made me laugh! I *love* caramel corn and have been saying for years that I was going to make some. I don’t know that it’s a good idea this week seeing as how I already have a slight toothache. I love that pic of you! Hilarious!
Oh this is so gonna be a perfect addition to my opening day…Thanks for the recipe, Can’t wait to try it. P.S. I love the pic. Hugs,Amy
yeah, i won’t be making that because i really would eat all of it in one sitting. looks heavenly.
You are so right about this; in fact, I think Caramel Corn should be a controlled substance. I have to get special permissions from about ten sources before picking up my sleeping aid every month, but you can go to any street corner in New York and just “score” any amount of caramel corn you want! What kind of logic is that, I ask? If you ever go to the “Top of the Rock” tour, they have it up there even! You can stand in line with a zillion other people eating with their germy hands that have touched every filthy surface in the city and shove the stuff in your face. Seriously, why do people even waste their time with cupcakes when you can wreck your teeth, gain 20 pounds and eat with noisy, bad manners—caramel corn! Mmmmmmmm
oh awesome!!
i’ve wanted a yummy recipe for popcorn
you crack me up!
So…one of the permissions I’m giving myself lately is “weird faces.” Thank you for helping me be a little less self-conscious, although I’ve got to wonder when my 14-year old daughter (and right-hand show helper) asks, “Mom, are you sure you want to look like that?”
ps…
I’ll make the corn for my kids, too!
Thanks for the recipe!
Yum! I can’t wait to make that!

Thanks a lot, Jeanne (note sarcasm in voice). I have been off sugar for two months (actually I cheat every once in awhile and this looks worth a cheat!)
I am not sure if I told you there is a giveaway on my blog, jewelry designed by Robin Thomas (A Nest with a View) and myself. No strings attached, obviously. I may have seen your name…

Well, I think the look on your face says is all, Smalls. And the face that I continue to have covetous thoughts of your wardrobe is a whole ‘nother issue.
