Seeing Silence: The Paintings of Helene Schjerfbeck (this book is not needed to take the course).

Q: It was asked in the workshop if you can add white paint to watercolors to make your paint more opaque like a gouache.
A: Yes, you can make watercolor paint more opaque and matte like gouache by mixing it with white gouache or white watercolor. I would also suggest you experiment with other white mediums to see if it gives you the look you are wanting. Keep in mind it will lower your pigment and create a chalky effect.
