Week One: Helen Frankenthaler with Jeanne Oliver

*Please note that to study Helen Frankenthaler and her work you can use watercolors, acrylics, oils and other water soluble mediums. Please use what you have.

Watercolor paper 
Raw canvas, drop cloth or cotton duck cloth
Gelli Plate (please watch the video first to see if you want to create the prints)
Acrylic Paints (please watch the videos first and always use what you have first)
Oil Paints (please watch the videos first and always use what you have first)
If using oil paints you will need a thinner like Chelsea Spike Oil
Needle and Black Wax Thread
Small mixing cups and bowls that you already have on hand.

Week Two: Joan Mitchell with Diane Reeves

Acrylic Paint (please use what you have or wait to purchase more until you decide what work of Joan’s you will study).
Black Gesso
White Gesso
Oil Pastels (please wait until watching the lesson to decide which colors you may need)
Caran D’ache Water Soluble Neo Color 2 (you may have other water soluble mediums you can use instead)
Mixed Media Sketchbook, 9×12
9 x 12 Watercolor Paper 15 x 11, 140lb Cold Press
Newspaper Pad 12 x 18

Drop cloth-well used with paint splatters all over it!

Week Three: Elaine de Kooning with Renee Mueller

I will be using oils in both lessons, so please feel free to substitute them with acrylic paint or the medium of your choice.

If you use acrylic paints, I suggest Golden’s Satin or Gloss Glazing Medium. It will allow you to create beautiful glazes with acrylic paints that look like an oil painting.

Week Four: Lee Krasner with Crystal Marie

18” x 24” pad of Bristol or Watercolor Paper for substrate
Pad of Mixed Media or Drawing Paper
Collected Ephemera, decorative papers, and/or handmade collage fodder, etc.
Chunky Charcoal, Black or optional Color Set
Oil Pastels
Cold Wax Medium
Adhesive of Choice or Instructors blend: (Yes Stickflat Adhesive + Golden Satin Glazing Liquid) Stiff Bristle brush or old credit card to apply adhesive
Spray Fixative
Cutting Mat
Utility Knife or Rotary Blade Cutter
Ruler
Scissors
Helpful to have: Junk mail catalog or old magazine Triangle ruler Cotton Swabs Bakery Tissue, Deli Sheets, or Waxed Paper

Week Five: Grace Hartigan with Julia Muller
