(new lampshades that will be in my spring collection)
We take a long time to get things done around here…. A LONG TIME!
In fact, the room I will be showing you still has tons of paint to
touch up…but I decided that you can not really see it so lets go
ahead and show the room:-)
I have had this room repainted for a few months now and I am just getting around to showing you.
Those of you that have new projects to show each week….my hat is off to you:-)
I had originally painted the fireplace wall a deep red. The other three walls were a taupe.
I had only planned on painting the fireplace wall…but I loved the gray/blue color so much that I kept on going.
I kept the bookcase wall taupe because there was NO WAY I wanted to repaint all of that.
When we were building our home we asked the builder to cut short our living room and add the library.
We also wanted a fireplace in this room.
The builder was charging too much (for us) to add the bookcases so for my birthday a few years after we moved in……. my husband built all the shelves for me.
I LOVE having a handy husband!!
I adore books and now my children adore books…so this room is perfect for our family!
This room is actually one of my favorites in our home because it is small and cozy.
This is where I sit and talk to friends on the phone, listen to the children practice, do my morning devotions and this is where my children usually chose to do their own reading.
Must. Have. Lampshade. LOOOOOOOVE it!!!!!!
Your home is GORGEOUS Jeanne!
It’s stunning…. You had better have a very LARGE supply of the lampshades because I must have one too!!! I wish you lived next door… i have the itch to change my living room…. and now i think it needs to revolve around that shade!!! LOL
xoxo,
LuLu

Love the room!!
G*O*R*G*E*O*U*S, all of it, and am loving that lampshade a bit too much! You have lovely taste…..
That is a gorgeous library! My baby brother and his wife have an antique home, and they transformed one of the rooms into a library (my brother made all the shelves, just as your hubby did). It is also their favorite room in the house! 😉
Wow — so beautiful — I can see why everyone loves that room!
Hope you have a great week!
Janet

Gorgeous Room!!
Your room turned out gorgeous! I love the lampshade and all of your special touches. You are very blessed to have a handy husband like you do. you have so many books! You found the perfect spot for those pictures from ravenna gardens! Looks great! That lampshade will be a big seller!
Great color. Perfect place for those beautiful butterfly prints:)
It’s so beautiful! We are a family of book geeks, so I would love a cozy little library…or a big, huge library that requires those 10 foot ladders on runners to access all the books! 😉
That lampshade is the first thing I noticed in the picture…not that everything else wasn’t gorgeous…but I already made a note…to ask you where…and oh my…how fabulous they will be in your shop!!!
Your library looks beautiful and I love that it is so cozy and used so much…the best part…love the butterfly prints too:)
The new color on the walls in the library is just beautiful and so very soothing. I like the mirror over the mantel and the new butterfly pictures are great too. Your lamp shade is so adorable, a perfect addition to the other aspects of the library. What a great space for so many special moments throughout the day for the family:)
Gorgeous Library Jeanne, would love one just like that, when ever we start building of course, it seems like it will never happen!!!! I carn’t believe you have the butterfly & moth prints I sold that range last year through The Feathered Nest I must have good taste then (hee)
Your lampshade is gorgeous! and oh how you have created a wonderful room to curl up in.
One thing I miss most about my children being young is the time we spent reading. It was such a special time to be together.

I have been thinking/wanting to do something like these shelves in our toy room. We are thinking about moving all the toys to the basement when we get it finished and our whole family loves books, so it seems logical (and practical!)
I love it! 🙂 We take forever to get things done too! ugh. I hate that! But when it’s done…it’s so worth it! 🙂
What a lovely room, lampshade, and mantle!
fabulous color!!! Love how it is so perfect with your fireplace tile and that amazing art above the piano!
So fun…..!
Love it! This is one of the must haves on my list for our new house. I want a wall full of bookshelves like this for books and displays. Sigh. Great job! It looks like a library should. Cozy and inviting. Thanks for sharing:)
I love the blue in your room and that lampshade is so pretty!
What a beauty! Love the bookcases…we SO need those…we have TONS of books and my daughter is on her way to having enough to open her own used bookstore LOL! Is that the pitcher you bought from Alice (on the piano)?! Sign me up for a lampshade : ) (unless they’re like $100 bux! LOL)
What a great room, Jeanne. Love those shades too! Don’t feel bad about how long it takes to get things done. I am the same! My office has been painted for months and still have not showed it….
I LOVE the idea of having a library in your home, what a lovely idea. Your libray is really lovely Jeanne. It looks really cosy 🙂

Dear Jeanne,
Love this room. Love the dictionary shelf. Love the bookcases built by handy-hubby. Love the fireplace. LOVE the comfortable chair and throw… I may just need to stop by (if I’m ever in CO) and sit down for a read. Feel free to return the favor (if ever you’re in UT).

Jeanne – your lampshade is SOOO AWESOME! LOVE IT WANT IT! I like how you are making the bottom like you’ve done your journals for years! I love how you can cross over media’s and bring ideas from what you work on daily to something new!! You are such a creative GAL!
Beautiful! I love the lampshade, pillow, everything! Can’t wait for your new line to come out. Glad I found your blog and etsy site….very inspiring in many ways. 🙂 By the way, how much do you sell your ruffled bags for? I’ve checked a few times and you’re sold out each time. Guess you can email me back through here? Thanks!
~Crystal
Is it improper to ask you what color paint you used on the library walls? And I totally love the lampshade!!!!!
Hello Jeanne – oh my, what a beautiful room you’ve created. The lampshades are fab. And I love the fireplace.
Blessings,
Marie
Hi Jeanne – i found your blog thru A Dash of Humble Pie – i have been browsing it ever since and LOVE it! I have pain stakingly been trying to find a nice tan neutral color for the majority of my home – and I love the taupe color of your bookshelf wall. Do you know the name of the paint that you used there? That would be SO helpful to me! thanks Jeanne! I dont update my blog too much, and its not nearly as beautiful as many are – but if you want to check me out, i’ve included my URL below! thanks!
