I was recently tagged by my friend Tara to share photos of my style.
I have to admit that this was harder than I expected.
Not hard to KNOW my style. Hard to find photos of my style. I know they are out there, but I do have three kids and other things to do in life:-)
So, without further ado I wanted to share some of the photos I found that give you a taste of the things I love about architecture and decor.
To describe my style in words would be French Farmhouse.
I love old linens, woodwork, exposed brick and wide planked floors.
I guess I just love the DETAILS. The details that can only be found in an older home.
I love, love, love texture and color. I have burlap curtains in one room and silk in another in my own home. I love the mix of old and rustic with elegant.
I love smaller homes over huge ones. I like divided rooms. I love cozy spaces that I can cuddle in a chair and read my favorite book.
More than a style I guess the truth is I want people to walk in our front door and feel welcome.
I want people to know there is joy here and a family that loves each other.
I want our home to be beautiful and comfortable. I want it to be truly lived in. Without that…it isn't a home to me.
I also want to point out that I love my house and how my husband and I have made it a home. Of course I care more about decorating than him…but I want him to love and be proud of our home also. So many times I will show him a magazine with a photo that I love and his face is telling me "NO WAY". Our home represents both of us…just as it should.
I have NO IDEA where most of these photos originated from. I emailed some of my favorite blogs and asked to use some of these. I know some came from Better Homes and Gardens.
Ooooh, I just love your style photos, Jeanne! Beautiful!
Beutiful pics, love them all but my favorite is the dining room with the mismatched chairs. The way you described your style and what you want for your home was really cool! I have the hardest time putting my thoughts into words like that. Have a great day Jeanne! 🙂
so pretty. i too love the mismatched chairs around the dining room table, i wanted to do that and my family thought i was wacked. they don’t get it.
Jeanne! These are so pretty. I think its so fun to see everyone’s style choices. and I completely agree with you!! I usually prefer the character in an older house opposed to a new one…
ps is your hubby back home safe and sound yet? then I can tell you what happened to us… 😉
I love your style. I would come and live with you 🙂
