I don’t know if there is any other city in the world where I have felt the most thankful to be an artist, as Paris. It is the city dripping with beauty, inspiration, history, gardens and the invitation to be a part of it. Maybe that is what I love the most, the invitation. Paris begs you to sit a little longer at a café to people watch, stop in the gardens to rest and sketch, the museums with their unending inspiration and stories of people who had to make, and the little surprises around each corner ready to be captured in your mind, heart and sketchbook.
We will be staying in the artist’s neighborhood of Montmartre. We will explore and sketch in the same neighborhood as Van Gogh, Picasso and Degas. We will start our time together creating our own sketchbook. Each day there will be demos, creative warm-ups, printed prompts, and time together to sketch and paint all over Paris. We will be working in graphite, charcoal, watercolors and gouache.
This workshop is for creatives of all skill level. Each day will begin with technique demos so you will understand how that medium will work while we are out and about. You will also receive prompts to take with you to give you fresh ideas or try a new technique or tool. We will do warm-up exercises together with new mediums and while we are working in our sketchbooks you will have the confidence to create in a chapel, museum, or garden.
