For more than 40 years, Charlotte Lyons has inspired makers around the world with the humble simplicity of traditional art and craft and the inventive use of repurposed materials. Trained as a teacher, she works in a variety of mediums, including sewing, embroidery, textiles and fabric, paper craft, painting, and photography. Right now, Charlotte is enjoying designing original samplers and stitching projects. She also teaches workshops and leads art retreats around the country, which are open to creative people of all levels of experience.
Over the years, Charlotte has authored several books on crafting and design including Mothers and Daughters at Home (Simon & Schuster, 2000), Between Friends (Simon & Schuster, 2002), and a book series with Mary Engelbreit and Barbara Martin. She has been a licensed artist for Blend Fabrics, Midwest, and Natural Life and seen on HGTV, CBS, and DIY Network. Her work is featured in magazines such as Country Living, Victoria, Romantic Homes, Woman’s Day, Better Homes and Gardens, Where Women Create, Mollie Makes, Cloth-Paper-Scissors, and Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion.
Currently, Charlotte lives and works in a 19th century mill cottage in the village of North Bennington, Vermont. House Wren Studio is Charlotte’s creative home as an artist and maker.
