Last night a friend of mine was able to get three tickets to see John Mayer.
This was all very last minute and very spontaneous…for a not so spontaneous ME.
It started to snow.
Really snow.
Snow so much that you could not see.
The one that got the tickets wanted to still go…the other friend and myself…not so much.
I was a little scared…I admit it…I was going to have to drive.
We finally decided to not go.
Good choice…the highway was later closed, cars all over the ditch etc.
We stayed in, talked, ate dessert and had a little wine and laughed a lot!!!
I got home around 1:30 am which is very late for me.
I crawled into bed around 2:00.
We woke up this morning to lots of new snow and no power.
It was a fun morning of heating the house with our fireplaces and stove:-)
We did school next to the fireplace, in our pajamas without any phone, tv or computer and it was really nice.
Some days you need to just slow down a little, create, listen to good music and regroup.
I hope you are having that kind of day too!
Sorry you didn’t get to go and enjoy your concert. I am glad you decided to stay and not be out in the white out that was out there! We live in Co Sprgs and it came down so fast…crazy! My daughter had a friend trying to come back here from Denver and had to stay in Denver because of the hwy being closed. It sounds like you still had a great time with your girlfriends! Happy you are all safe! Enjoy your day staying cozy and warm inside.
Hugs to you,
Victoria
it sounds lovely.
bummer to miss a concert…but better to have your car in the driveway than the ditch. BUT i totally would have been the friend saying “lets go anyway!” that is so me. 🙂
I’m sorry you missed the concert but I wouldn’t drive in a snowstorm either. It sounds like you had a great time anyway! It is kind of fun when the power goes out isn’t it?
this picture is so flippin beautiful!
UGH! SNOW!!! Sounds like a delightful evening though and a cozy morning. That photo is just beautiful.
Gorgeous picture…sending sunshine wish your way!
I’ve definitely been slowing down around here too…it’s really changed the view for me. I need to do it more often…when I’m not injured.
oh..so sorry you missed the concert..sigh…but i know all about that snow storm that came your way…it had hit us the day before…ugh…so nice that you could enjoy such a day..
perfect evening..perfect day..simple times.
blessings~
It sounds like you made the right choice and had alot of fun with your girlfriends. And your day sounded perfect too! 🙂
Oh my goodness. You know…you are probably glad it happened because look at what great conversation you had! Not that the concert would have been great…but just the way it rolled out you know…wish I could always think that way myself:)
So thankful that you all decided not to go to the concert due to the weather. I like the sound of “laughing a lot” rather than trying to manage through the snow:) I can picture you with your sweet ones around you by the fireplace doing schooling…how nice…inspite of the cold.
This would make a great painting!! Can I paint it? One must ask permission first. 🙂
I would love to cuddle around a fireplace, especially the chilly mornings.
Teresa

Sounds lovely! So glad you chose to enjoy the “pioneer” day!
Sorry about the concert, but sounds like an absolutely perfect day! Hope that snow melts fast!

I love days like that- I hope it was a beautiful day for you.
I was thinking about you. Colorado Springs always gets hit 10 times worse than Highlands Ranch. That storm really scared me though. I had a short drive home from a doctor’s appt. with my daughter and I honestly didn’t think we were going to make it. The power of prayer!
Our power went out and I was thinking…”what would Pa do?” LOL I had already planned to put the frozen foods outside in the snow on the deck when…VOILA…the power came back on! Isn’t it amazing how much we take electricity for granted…it was so quiet in my house that you could literally hear a pin drop!
Ahhhhh… So you do stay up til 2 am. Guess it depends on the company you keep. A good ladies night in is always fabulous! I hear you on the slow down part…. Even if everything around me is spinning out of control I will stand in the middle and soak up all the small sweet moments. Have a great week. Can’t wait to hear what the Lord has laid on your heart for the event. I am so very excited. Hugs,Amy
Oh my gosh…it is spring time here…daffodils blooming and tulips on its way. You have a very lovely blog
What a lovely picture, Jeanne. (The photo..and the post!)

That is exactly why my family & I retreat to the family cottage for a few weeks every summer. No phone, t.v., & biggest for the kids no computer or video games. (although they are so use to it that it doesn’t bother them.) Just good old fashion fun & enjoying each other. I find it’s a time when we all reconnect without the noise of everyday life.
Snow days, power outages some times they are a blessing in disguise!
Your night/day sound like perfection! (Minus the snow, that is.) Also, that picture is beautiful!
I love your photo this am…. so very nice.

That photo is gorgeous. Too bad you missed the concert but it sounds like fun night anyway. I love cozy days like this at home but I am SO glad it didn’t snow here.
Sorry you had to miss the concert – but it sounds like you made the best of it! Love the photo.
What a lovely photo! I know you guys made the best decision in not going to the show. And, BTW, I too would love a chicken coop and some little chickies!
