Sunday morning we woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground.
This was a stark contrast to the previous day when I had gone running in 60 degree weather.
As the morning went on the snow came down harder and it was changing our little town into a winter wonderland.
In the afternoon I met up with my friend Jenny and Shamanie at the only restaurant open on Sunday in downtown Castle Rock (Dream Pastries).
As the snow continued to fall we lost track of time catching up with each other over a light lunch and coffee.
We took the quick walk up the street to one of Shamanie and my favorite shops, The Barn.
Poor Jenny…I think she was wishing for her California weather at this point.
When we got there we were so shocked to find that they had closed early because of the weather.
I peeked in the window and noticed a few of the girls still closing up.
They so kindly let us in for a few moments to show Jenny around. The funny part was that one of the women used to work for Stampington (back before Jenny was the Editor in Chief. Now you can find Jenny at Crescendoh).
Jenny found an amazing purse and we quickly scooted out so the ladies could make their way home.
This is what the streets looked like in my neighborhood by 3:00.
The three of us met up later that night for a little wine and dessert and even a horrible improv show by Shamanie and myself. I am so glad you all weren't there to see it!
Today the kids are enjoying all the snow with their friends and I have been drinking too much coffee!
What did you do this weekend?
Sounds like you had a fun day with friends! I can see how snow makes you want to drink too much COFFEE! Now that you mention it ~I could go for a cup right now!
This weekend I made my annual trip to ANTHRO and purchased the Valcano candle in the mercury glass container along with the wooden flower pencil! I have been so ready to change my mantel and some how that little trip at Anthro and the purchace got the decorating juices flowing!!! Have a great week and enjoy playing in the snow:)
The improv show was definitely the highlight, Jeanne. Especially when you broke into rapping about mac & cheese. It qualifies you for the Funniest List for 2011. We’ll see how it turns out.
Such fun times. Thanks so much.
Jenny 🙂
What a wonderful way to spend your day!! It is hard to believe how fast the snow comes down here…the kids were happy to have a snow day today! 🙂 I so need to check out the Barn, Kasey had told me about it. Maybe soon. Yes,so different from Cali. weather for Jenny. Glad you all were able to enjoy each others friendship.
Have a wonderful evening!

loving it.
i am in the middle of cleaning like crazy…bags and bags of stuff out of this house!
the snow is so pretty…we’ve got so much, it’s ridiculous! and by the way, you’ve got to quit posting about that darn barn store…you’re making me want to hop in my car and drive 10 hours to check it out! quit! 🙂
Oh, thanks for showing all the fabulous pictures! You see, today my eldest son called me from Denver. As he was talking to me on the phone, I could hear him swishing the snow off his car. Now I know what it looks like there and I have the visual of him trudging around. He’s headed up to Fort Collins for his week of work… I know it’s one of your favorite towns!
I love all the snow! What a great day you had~ it sounds just perfect.

I was working. As per usual.
And I think I was talking with you. Far too many minutes on the phone mean no time for cleaning. And I like it that way, thankyouverymuch. 🙂
Is it just me or is Colorado snow DIFFERENT from Illinois snow? For real. I think it’s big and fluffy and not so wet. Maybe it’s just me and my magical Colorado dream mind…
Colorado snow is different because there is not as much humidity in the air. It can say 34 degrees and it doesnt feel like Illinois 34 degrees. Colorado is magical…didnt you know:-)

I love Amy at The Barn, she was so nice to let you in! I especially love The Barn! We are so lucky to have that close by. I wrote down the Dream Pastries shop, I will be checking that our for sure! Lovely post, I always love the pictures you take. We didn’t get as much snow down here in Colorado Springs 🙁
Dreamy – I LOVE snow!
Sounds like a wonderful day! That snow has made it’s way to Maryland. It’s a sparkly, winter wonderland here tonight.
It looks like you had an amazing day with your friends! I do sometimes wish that I lived in a climate where we got snow to go with the cold – but usually a frost is as good as it gets. I do remember as a kid, watching excitedly as the snowflakes fell, and then being let out to play in it before it all melted – or even better the time I was at my grandparents and they had a snow fight with me and we built a snowman. Then we got bundled indoors for a hot chocolate and some of grandma’s decadent baked treats 🙂
that must b super cold…yet i can feel the Warmth of Friendship… 🙂
