Thanks, good reminders. For contour drawing, I like to do blind contour drawings–faces, my face, things in my studio, everything, creates lines and images that I couldn’t get any other way.
Suggestions One and Two are excellent impetus to visit favorite places. There was a cafe with a uniquely quaint patio with small umbrellas tables, a fountain at its center and vines growing up its stone walls. I have
sketched there many times. Sketching in airports also offers a plethora of visuals to record: architectural lines & shapes, clusters of people in varied postures, views of the sky outside huge windows, multiple patterns seen on clothing, luggage, tiles or wall surfaces, and multiple styles of lettering. Of course local parks, gardens, museums, etc. are always an option.
