It’s A Wonderful Life

This past weekend was full of pajamas, creating and lots of movies.

We didn't shop or run all over the place.

We created and made a lot of messes.

We watched some of our favorite movies and of course we watched It's A Wonderful Life.

Wonderful

It doesn't matter how many times I watch it…I always cry…ALWAYS!

My kids just watch me to see when the water works will start…that is a little annoying I might like to add.

What a sweet reminder though….each of our lives is precious.

Each of us touch another person's' life.

The world would not be the same without each one of us in it.

What a beautiful and powerful message.

Did you hear that???

The world is better because of YOU!

YOU touch another person's life.

YOU make someone's heart happy!

YOU bring joy and laughter and love.

It is amazing to think that little acts of kindness can bless another so much.

Maybe it is something as small as a smile, a phone call, making time for coffee.

Maybe it is big….like forgiveness.

Wonderful1

One of my favorite lines in the movie is when Harry comes home at the end….George is standing in front of a table full of money that friends have given him….and he toasts his brother, "A toast to my big brother George. The richest man in town"…..and it wasn't the money, the gifts…it was friends and family that he was talking about.

It is so true.

It won't be the gifts under the tree…it will be the people around it that truly make us rich!

Now go and watch it for yourself!

Maybe your kids will stare at you too and wait for you to bawl!!!

It won’t be the gifts under the tree…it will be the people around it that truly make us rich [and those loved ones that aren’t able to join us]! nice, jeanne. i agree. i just came across our iawl on vhs last night; it’s time to get the dvd version (since our vhs player broke a couple years ago!=))

We love that movie! I have to say that I got your Christmas card and it was DARLING! Your family is precious. I feel like we’ve reached a new level in our friendship cause I’ve made your Christmas card list!:) I have to say tho, that I don’t send out cards. I used to, but haven’t in a few years. Just know that if I did, you would be on the top of the list!!!!
Merry Christmas Jeanne, to you and your family!
    Love Ya!

Sad to say that I can hardly remember the movie, but now I’ve got to get it on my Netflix for the weekend! Had tears with your post, so I can’t imagine when I’ll start crying while watching…my kids look at me the second a movie gets emotional to see if I’ve cried…why does that entertain them??
What a perfect weekend you had, I hope the rest of your holiday week is just as wonderful!
    Blessings to you and yours!

it’s Thanksgiving tradition at our house to watch this movie.
“What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That’s a pretty good idea. I’ll give you the moon, Mary.”

I haven’t watched it in a few years, but I plan to sit w/ my daughters one of these next few evenings and watch it together. Miracle on 34th Street is another sweet Christmas movie that was always a tradition to watch in our family when I was growing up.
    Merry Christmas!

You know, that is one of the movies that I would roll my eyes when my mother would put it in when I was a teenager. It has a special meaning to her (it was the last movie that she watched with my grandfather before he died, he woke her up extra early on the 26th of Dec. to watch it, he died the following Feb.) But, the other day, my husband was flipping channels and it was on… he has never seen it all. And, I found myself telling him how wonderful it was and giving him the story line. It is truly one of the best movies ever made.
    Merry Christmas!

My kids stare at me all the time to see if I’ll cry… which I do a lot in movies. The other day my 15 year old daughter cried while we were watcing a Lifetime Christmas movies (love those Lifetime movies!)and I said, “see… now you know how I feel all the time.”
    Love that movie!!

Jeff and I watch this EVERY year…it’s our Favorite Christmas movie! In fact, we have the HUGE movie poster on the wall in our movie room downstairs! We have all the little porcelain buildings from the movie (drug store, etc.) and all the little ornaments for the tree. It REALLY IS a touching movie and can make you think! I’m glad you had such a relaxing, special weekend with your family! Have a Merry Christmas!!

It’s a Wonderful Life is not just my favorite Christmas movie, it’s my favorite movie of all:) Every Christmas Eve, part of our tradition is to watch this wonderful, powerful, beautiful movie. And, like you, I cry…every time! Do you recite the lines out loud, too? My Dad & I drive our family crazy because we’ll shout out “hot dog” or “sentimental hogwash” or “attaboy Clarence” & on and on! Best of all, is the story’s message…that each & every person is special, each one of our lives counts:) Oh I need a tissue, now. Wishing you lots of “riches” this Christmas!

Thanks for the reminder, although for me it was more like a kick in the butt. Had a bad day yesterday and then I read your blog and realized I needed to take control of my emotions and be more grateful. You wrote this at the perfect time. Have a great Holiday Season….Merry Christmas!

  21. Kelsee Webb

You know, I never cried during this movie until this year. We wouldn’t have made it without the help of our families and watching this movie makes me cry now. -Kelsee

    Jeanne!
Are you speaking/writing only to me? Again, our common paths cross. This IS my movie. I have it playing in the background while I bake in the kitchen during this time of year – I could and do recite EVERY line! I met the grown up version Zuzu here at the Antique Show a few years ago – she signed a glossy black and white copy of a photo taken from the scene where he pastes the petals!
    Many Christmas blessings friend!
    xoxo
    Amy
