I am all about embracing winter and welcoming the new year slowly and intentionally. Winter is usually my most creative time of the year here in Colorado. I love the rhythm, smell of hot coffee and a fire burning, the sound of walks in the snow, the day’s work ends sooner and the candles get lit and the beauty of a more barren land around me. Winter is very skeletal and I see the structure of plants and trees in a new way and I am very inspired by this.
I also use winter as a time to learn and gather in the midst of more creating. Whether I was a child or all the way to today, I love pinning inspiration to my walls. When I find myself heading in a new direction or wanting to explore an idea deeper, I turn to creating inspiration boards. I am a very analog person and the gathering/organizing/editing out ideas and beauty has to be held in my hands and then arranged in front of me.
