Over the years I have gotten better at choosing more natural cleaning supplies.
It is only recently that I have been making more of my own.
This was a little hard for me at first because I love when everything smells “clean”.
{I love cleaning supplies..so weird I know!}
This past weekend I was reading my friend Maria’s blog and she introduced a new blog to me.
While I was reading Brianna’s blog I was excited to see that she had “recipes” for making your own cleaners.
I am a sucker for anything that smells like lemons and lavender.
I immediately headed out to get the lavender oil and a spray bottle.
I have been cleaning everything in site…watch out if you come over!!!
I am actually cleaning things that aren’t even dirty just so my house will smell that good:-)
Here is her recipe
{All Purpose Cleaner}
Equal Parts of Lemon Juice and Distilled, White Vinegar and a few drops {I used WAY more than a few} of lavender oil
Brianna also shared her {furniture polish recipe}
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
1/2 teaspoon oil
1-2 drops lavender oil
Mix together and apply with a clean cloth.
I promise you that your home will smell better than any store bought cleaner.
Just be prepared to be come a little OCD!

Lemons and lavender sounds like it would smell so good. I am wondering if you still get the vinegar smell? Thanks for sharing! 🙂
The more lemon you add the less you will smell the vinegar. I put in the same amount lemon to vinegar and I could barely smell it. The lavender helps too.

Love this!!! i am a sucker for great smelling cleaners too but would also love to make my own…. i have everything but the lavendar oil…. must get my hands on some!!!

despite being super picky with fragrances i actually love anything lemon, lavender and vanilla too.
i am hoping to find some essential oil. whole foods maybe?
I’ve been cleaning with vinegar and baking soda for a while now, and I’ve come to the point where I actually prefer the smell of vinegar to whatever perfumey scent the “natural” cleansers I once used had. I need to spike my vinegar/water bottles with lavender oil, though. Nothing says “RELAX” like a clean, lavender scented bathtub, right?
I am having a small love affair with the smell of lavender right now & have been using Mrs Meyers on everything in sight!!! I think that i might pick up some lavender oil at the farmers market on Saturday!!! But I gotta ask a silly question, does the lemon juice not get sticky or make a film? I have never used it before 🙂
