I would like to be clear that I am not talking about my own father.

Sure, he is a fine looking man, but I am not in the habit of calling him hot.

I am talking about Pa Ingalls.

Like you haven't thought it!

I loved that show growing up and now my kids love it.

My sister's oldest child even likes to call her mom "Ma" and herself "Laura".

I also have to admit that for the life of me I can not watch that darn show without bawling.

I am in the corner, in a fetal position, sucking my thumb…bawling.

How could those people cry every show on que???

I thought I needed to show my love for Pa!

Any man that can wear THOSE pants and still look good deserves some attention!

I seriously need counseling….seriously!

Great pictures! I can’t say that I ever had a thing for Pa…but my Jason Bateman crush began when he played James Cooper on Little House…

  2. Lori

i always thought he was cute too…i remember watching that show when i was little with my mother, grandmother, and sister…the four of us would ALL be bawling our eyes out…don’t even get me started on “the waltons”…

  3. Amy

  5. Silke

Oh, yes, I definitely get what you are talking about. Hot! I used to watch the show growing up in Germany. They all spoke German, but still made all of us cry… Loved the books as well! πŸ™‚ Silke

  6. traci

it’s a good thing i wasn’t drinking coffee or it would have come right out my nose!
when i clicked to come over…my parental block came up for “adult material” how hilarious is that?
my girls have watched the show a couple of times. we are reading the books right now. we are in the book ‘on silver lake’ and jack dies. holy moly….i could barely get through it. my girls were staring at me with big eyes.

It makes my day that TVLand is showing little house at 5 every day now. Just when the day starts to be overwhelming!
Looking at those photos has given me the overwhelming urge to reread some of the books now.

  9. Amy Jo Axe

You are a dork! Now Patrick Dempsy, HOT. I love you, but you do need a bit of help. I cry when I watch it to, so maybe we can council together!

  10. Tricia Whisler

Oh my word, I completely agree with you! He is a hottie with a body!!! I LOOOOOVE little house, and still watch it all the time. Remember the very last episode when they blew up the town???? And the one where Mary’s baby dies in the fire? Such a great show! I always thought, man, that Laura is one lucky girl to have him for a dad, and hello, Caroline? I bet she loved her job! He was even sexier when he was mad. And lets not forget how hot he was when he cried! I could talk about this show forever, like i said I LOOOVE it!

  11. Jackie

Loved that show and the books and everything LHOP. He was probably the best looking tv dad of the times…no doubt!

  12. Tara

And this is why I love you! Amen sister, always thought he was HOT…isn;t that why we watched that show? πŸ™‚

  13. natalie

    Yes he’s a hottie!
I love watching all the old reruns and I even have several of the boxed dvd sets!

  14. amy

Okay, again. Did you download my brain onto a memory stick? Anyhoo- cried / laughed watching the show – completely had a crush on Pa. My Dad’s name was even Charles – but somehow…not the same. : ) I even cried when Michael Landon died. I adored the show. And, yes, I was Laura Ingalls for Halloween one year – way back!

this is disturbing… deeply, deeply disturbing…
Maybe I should introduce you to my counselor friend…
Admitting it is the first step to healing.

  16. Heather

Oh, I loved that show! I cry when I see them too! They just remind me of life in my beanbag chair sitting in front of the tv as a kid!

  17. Tracy

this is so randomly hilarious – I love how you exposed yourself to an innermost crush…..some people love it and some hate it.
I always loved his voice and TAN skin….so weathered, so rugged. Love a hard-workin’ man. (even one that wears a suit everyday in the city….)
what a fun trip down memory lane…
    TOO funny!!

  18. amy

how many moms must have encouraged this show for their children because they secretly had a crush for pa.=) those pa shots are a little too handsome! you are right; not many men could pull that off!!

  19. Pat Addesso

He was a big heart throb for me too. I am so old that my crush on him started when he was Little Joe on Bonanza! Always love your blog, can count on it to always lift my spirit or make me laugh out loud.

  20. Laurel@pandorascottage

Ohhh I always thought he was so handsome. Sarry but I did! And his voice….sexy, even when I didn’t know what sexy was.
Thanks for the trip to younger years, loved it!

  21. DeniseLynn

Oh yea, me too … had a crush on him since I was a kid. Still love the re-runs and cry at least once in every episode. My mom still loves him from the Bonanza days. *lol*

  22. tracey

LOL! My older sister and I used to watch that show obsessively and then go out back in the field behind our house and play LHOTP! Brings back memories! To this day, my sister says if she has a girl she’ll name her Laura…

  23. Lori

I laughed, I cried, I loved that man. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I always knew that I wouldn’t marry a man with smooth, manicured hands and I didn’t.

  24. LuLu

I STILL love Little house and try to get my kids to watch it! I had fantasies as child that I was Laura… though now looking at those pics.. I am having different Pa relate thoughts.. shame on you!

  27. Anne Marie

ha! I always thought he was very handsome, and treated his girls with such kindness – and last year we had bought my 9yr.old daughter the whole 1st series – and they love it except for “store keeper” they call her with their faces all scrunched up – like sucking on a lemon – πŸ™‚

  28. Sabrina

I am a huge LHOTP fan! I always say if I could pick the perfect guy it would be Charles Ingalls!
I BAWL too everytime I watch that show!!! Even if I’ve seen the episode a hundred times! So touching and heartwarming! πŸ™‚

I am just catching up on your blog (which I love) and this post cracks me up! I loved Pa! And everything about Little House! When my first son was born, I used to watch it everyone morning (back to back episodes I might add!!). One morning he walked by the TV and pointed and said “Pa”. It was one of his first words!!
