Note:
There are basic supplies needed to make the bird. These are listed under the basic supplies. For embellishing the bird and giving them a perch, I have listed options. You DO NOT NEED everything on the list. What you use is up to your creativity and your stash of stuff. A trip to a flea market, antique mall or second hand store is a great place to hunt for options.

The Basic Supplies

For making the basic bird (3 optional ways to make a bird body; choose one):

DAS Clay
Sculpey Clay
Paper Mache bird

Options for the bird legs:
Armature wire
screws
flat head nails
golf tees

Options for the bird wings:
Tin
can lids
wire mesh

Options for the bird eyes:
Seed beads
small snaps
tiny rhinestones
small brad nails

Options for the base tail feathers:
Tin can lids
popsicle sticks
toothpicks
old ruler
old paintbrushes
wooden clothes pin
wooden skewers (the Dollar Store is a good place to shop!)
E-6000 glue

Options for the bird bases:
Old tins
cigar boxes
ceramic rice bowls
tea cups
old spools
drift wood
nests
wooden bird houses
ceramic or resin balls
little boxes

Options for embellishments;
Ribbons
cording or fibers
vintage ephemera
old jewelry
fabrics
embroidery
embroidery thread
buttons
silk or paper flowers
rhinestones
dried flowers
paper clips
toothpicks

Additional materials for embellishing the birds:
For decoupage:
Liquitex Matte Gel medium
Small sponge brush

For ease of holding the bird: (optional)
Irwin Quick Grip clamps ( small or med. size)

Acrylic or craft paint
Small paint brush
Craft glue(an option for gluing fabric and fibers)
Plastic gloves(optional)
Wire cutter
Scissors
