The Official Launch of The Living Studio {and a huge giveaway too}

I have been waiting to do an official launch of the new The Living Studio | City Art Walks Around The World retreats and online classes!

This is almost two years in the making and it is beyond fun to finally see it coming together.

I was waiting until I could do a huge giveaway and to also give you a hint at what will be coming in the new year.

My heart behind The Living Studio is that we will all learn to explore and create wherever we live.

I hope to inspire people to step out of the comfort of their studios and out into the world and boldly create based upon the beauty all around them.

The Living Studio combines my love of travel, creating and connecting with other creatives.

I don’t know how many times over the years I had walked past a person sketching in an art museum, painting in the gardens, practicing their watercolors in the mountains or writing at a cafe and I have stopped a moment to envy them.

They were doing it!

They HAD to be creative.

It is a practice and a preparedness that motivates you to create your studio wherever you go.

With practice and always having your tools with you…you live your creativity and the world becomes your studio.

To celebrate The Living Studio I am giving some of my favorite go to tools for creating a portable studio.

These are the tool I use that encourage creating at the coffee shop, in the car, at the park or in the mountains.

I suggest having a portable set in your car so you have no excuse not to create on the go.

When you practice like this I promise you that you will start seeing your art grow in new and exciting ways.

{one lucky winner will get everything seen here and a bit more}

{pretty yummy}

I have two amazing The Living Studio collaboration retreats coming up in 2015.

In February we will be creating together in Savannah, Georgia.

Join me in October in Normandy, France.

We will be ending our trip in Paris and I have more coming about that too!

What else is coming for The Living Studio in 2015?

Coming this JanuaryΒ The Living Studio will also become a free online series!

This brand new series will highlight a different artist and include technique videos to help you expand your creativity and to encourage making the town you live in your studio.

More information will be coming soon and you can sign up for this FREE series and be ready for the first artist and videos that will launch in January.

**We will even be expanding The Living Studio to have an Art and Necessity Collection**

This will be collections of art supplies put together by artists you trust and admire.

It would be amazing if you could come to a retreat in Northern California. So many options, from the coastal areas near Big Sur, to Mendocino, or even somewhere in the Napa Valley.

  2. gcgirl07

Charleston SC is always a favorite for me…lots of beautiful scenery to sketch/paint and good food to eat :0). Key West would also be a fun spot. LOVE the yummy supplies you are offering a chance to win, thanks so much!

  8. Teresa Swanson

Someone is going to be one very lucky person. How generous you are, Jeanne! I would have to say the coast of Central California is one of my most favorite places to visit. Anywhere from Morro Bay all the way to Carmel and Monterey are some of the most beautiful coastal areas, which leaves quite an area to choose from to have a retreat. Also, Pacific Beach, near Monterey with the pines, and the Monarch butterflies who are attracted to that as, being the main attraction when they are migrating to lay their eggs. (You have to do an online search to find when the butterflies are migrating). They even have a parade when the children especially love it at that time of year as they can put on costumes with butterfly wings. And the weather is always glorious on the coast. It would be a beautiful place for an art retreat!

I live on the west central coast of Florida in Clearwater. So, I vote you host a Living Studio retreat here! Life on the water is the best life. Pelicans dive for fish in the Gulf of Mexico as I float on my back, hair splayed out like seaweed, Seagulls steal snacks from unsuspecting tourists. Along the private beaches where I run and walk, Cormorant congregate to discuss the ebb and flow of the tide and just past the swim line, pods of dolphin dance! And it’s a lucky day when you spy a fever of rays jumping from the waves! Kayaking or paddle boarding the Inter-coastal, you’ll see “Bird Island” where all manner of fish and fowl reside including a pilot whale who once surprised me as I paddled near him.

I would love for you to visit us here in the Midwest. My hometown in NW Missouri has an Abbey and a Convent. Both very peaceful. The rolling hills and farm life would make a beautiful class setting!

Kauai, Hawaii is the perfect place to have a retreat. It is so gorgeous along the Na Pali coast. It is so lush and serene. Kauai is such a great place to nuture and develop your artistic soul. There are botanical gardens, beautiful beaches, and parks. An art retreat there would be so incredibly inspirational and a dream come true.

  116. Charlotte

Okay, so another shameless plug for doing your Living Studio in Seattle. A great location would be Sleeping Lady Resort about an hour outside of Seattle. Its in a beautiful setting in the Cascade Mountains with great amenities and its close to Seattle. Of course there are lots of choices in Seattle itself. Another great option would be Ilsandwood on Bainbridge Island. It too is in a beautiful setting and just a quick a ferry ride into Seattle. Hoping you come to Seattle πŸ™‚

  117. Donna

Traverse City or Charlevoix Michigan. If I didn’t have an infant I would so love the Savannah studio! I think the whole idea is beautiful and
I hope your living studio continue long enough so I can cross it off its new spot on my bucket list. <3

Being on a retreat with Jeanne Oliiver would be fantastic in any setting! My suggestion because I live in snowbound upper midwest country November through March making travel plans “iffy” is to have a Retreat time in April through October.. As far as type of art materials I would like to learn more about doing art with pastel pencils and sticks.. I would like to learn more about Renoir. I like a diversity of artist presenting classes I especiall likey the unknow; those who do not give frequent classes eg. Robin F.

Woman, I will get back up to Nashville & actually we will be in Franklin, right below Nash, where the foothills are beautiful! When I have my Art Retreat home opened, would love for you to come teach! Nash is the new it city. People think it is all just country music, but it is far from it. You are so very generous and you bless me through your art, words & teachings. The Living Studio is going to be a way for you to share & bless others on such a more intimate way. I am sooooo excited for you!

Hi Jeanne, you’ve inspired me to really take my art studio out into the community i live in…once the commitment was made it was sweet how things transpired. I was gifted with yearlong membership at a local botanical garden…i’ve begun a weekly art date…things are feeling magical through this heART connection and many little art dreams seem to be coming alive…i’ve made the art committment through connecting fully with your classes to be doing something each and every day and to be living wholly sustainably through my art in another 10 years….the work is more a joy each day as i am living inspired by this connection… i pinned and will facebook as well…wish i could win this fab pkg as it would be a boon in the art journey i am on:) thanks for all your lovely classes:)

  135. Bonnie

i also put this up on FB. really looking forward to all that you are sharing. hoping one day i will be part of one of your outings:)

  136. Beth P

Although perhaps not one of the most beautiful places on the planet, Harrisville, NH can hold it’s own and I would love to see you come here, the place where I currently call home. I think the town could use a really good dose of the living studio as many, far too many, seem to live rather introverted existences here. I know there is beauty here through it’s marvelous old New England town feel as well as natural beauty of lakes and wetlands all around. The historical, the newer and Mother Nature all wrapped up together.
I have also FB and tweeted. I will be blogging about it tomorrow (Saturday 11/22) on my blog http://elisabetpollock[dot]blogspot[dot]com
In the meantime, thank you so much for your beautiful heart and amazing creativity that you share with us all so freely!
    Hugs and many thanks,
    Beth P

  159. Charlotte

I meant to share a link for Sleeping Lady Resort in my post last week. I think it would be a great spot/ home base for a living studio in the Seattle area. It has a rich history and art on site as well as being in a beautiful setting. If you don’t end up doing a living studio there it is still worth a visit… check it out at http://www.sleepinglady.com/our-story.php If you do end up coming to the Seattle area for a Living Studio and want help from an architect, designer, and aspiring artist I’d be happy to help. (Hoping to someday be able to call myself an artist) Love your designs, your art and most of all your great teaching!! Hope to attend one of your living studio’s someday!! πŸ™‚

  160. Katie Miller

    Dear Jeanne,
I think it would be fantastic to do a retreat for military loved ones or veterans, specifically wounded warriors at one of the hospitals or on a base and this is because art and creativity is freeing and healing. I’m not sure this type of retreat would be possible…or if it would be a retreat?
For me, the less unnatural stimulation that is flooding my senses, the easier it is for me to be creative…so anywhere next to the water, I’ve always wanted to see Prince Edward Island where Anne of Green Gables was filmed. Ireland and New Zealand would also be amazing!
I’m excited to explore more of your website and make time for creative pursuits πŸ™‚
    ~ Katie

  161. abigail

I took my first painting class with my college aged daughter at a local community college and I was so surprised that I could paint! I feel like it opened up a side of me that layed dormant.

    Banff, Canada would be lovely!
