When My Words Say One Thing {and my actions say another}

We had packed up our bags and eaten our breakfast. We were almost ready to head back to Colorado from Utah. We had spent the past three days up in the mountains skiing as a family. This was the first time we had all skied together as a family (he has taken each of the children up separately) and nothing could have made Kelly happier. As we were getting up from breakfast Kelly said, “Oh, no! I left my license …

Open Roads {Wandering Mind}

On Thursday morning we headed out early to drive to Utah. I always pack a bag full of things to do and I usually spend all the time daydreaming and letting my mind wander. There is something about seeing land that you have never seen before. It is like putting a face to a name. As we were driving I wrote a letter…to myself. It may seem like a funny thing to do but at home there is always so …

World Water Day {The Adventure Project}

I am out of touch. I am. How can we not be when we live in a country like the United States. We have blessings all around us. We can waste what others around the world cherish and are dying from lack of . Over 4,000 children die EVERYDAY from lack of clean drinking water. I can go to my faucet, refrigerator, grocery store and get water whenever I want it. I have clean drinking water for cleaning, laundry, showers…and …

Art Night at The Barn

I have not been posting lately. Heck…I haven’t been cleaning, cooking, doing laundry, reading, seeing friends, playing with my children…. I was sick for 10 days!  10 DAYS!!! I still have a cold and cough hanging on but because I can actually get out of bed I am not feeling sick anymore. If you have ever wondered what your house would look like if you were not able to pick it up for 10 days…let me tell you that it …

Right Now

Right now I am humming “Singing In The Rain”. Right now I am posting with a cute, four year old on my lap (he is humming “Singing In The Rain too). Right now I am still sick. Yes, on day 8.  Really ready to feel well. Right now I have business receipts all over the floor because I am doing my taxes. Right now I am wearing leggings and a long sweater (the hair came down and the boots came …

Local Inspiration {The Makerie}

Over the past three years that I have been running my business I have been floored by the creative women out there. I have had the privilege of becoming close friends with many of them. I have met amazing women from all of the United States and around the world…but sometimes we don’t see all the creativity right in front of us. I can get pretty focused with homeschooling the kids, running a house, business etc. and miss out on …

Popcorn {and other random nightly events}

Once we finally get the kids to bed Kelly and I will often head our opposite directions with Kelly building bikes and me in my studio. Other nights we will go to bed early and read. And when we don’t feel like we are going to collapse from exhaustion we pop up some popcorn and watch a movie. As sure as the sun will rise… as the popcorn is popping (you would think we could make a quieter snack) we …

Top Ten List {Dream Girls 2}

{Top Ten List} 1. Beef Bourguignon tastes the best when you are sitting around a table with a dear friend 2. When I heard the theme was hillbilly…I didn’t really have any concept of hillbilly! 3. That being hit on at the Yella Beak by a woman is fine with me at this point in my life. 4. Brainstorming with creative women helps me to come home more inspired and focused than before. 5. 40 women should not solder without …

Breakfast {gluten free}

I get regular emails asking me what we eat with gluten allergies. I am trying to do better with sharing these recipes and answering questions when you have them. I think breakfast can be a hard transition for people because people are used to eating pancakes, cereal, muffins, pastries…etc. The unfortunate truth is that these foods aren’t usually even healthy. It is first thing in the morning after your body has been fasting and we can feed it garbage. The …

Just Because

These past months I have been busy planning and putting the spring line together. I am hoping that you will find this next line the best one to date. As I write this tonight I feel so blessed on this creative journey I have been able to travel. Thank you for supporting me and my shop from the very beginning.
